June 30, 2020 - In the last few months, the entire world has experienced life changing events. There has been changes to the way we work, live, play, interact and raise our children. Never before did we anticipate seeing something of this magnitude in our lifetime.

Although we are not out of the woods yet, communities across Ontario are making progress. I want to give a shout of recognition to all the women, men and children across the province for towing the line and doing their part, big or small, in the battle against COVID-19.

Lately in the media, the front line workers, health care system and health care workers are heralded as heroes, as they deserve to be. I would like to say that everyone is a hero - from individuals to families who have all made a difference through their sacrifices.

I would like to recognize the sacrifices that parents, employees, business owners and of course, the children and youth of the province who have been impacted by this pandemic. Through social isolation, physical distancing and major sacrifices for the greater good of our communities, everyone deserves recognition for doing their part.

To the people who are shuttered in their homes and haven’t left for months, I recognize your sacrifice. Thank you! You are heroes too. Everyday heroes, and without your efforts and sacrifice, we would not be able to beat this.

Together, we will get through this and come out on the other side better and stronger.

Be well and stay well.
