Do SL homes provide “Care”?
SupportiveLiving.ca is not a provider of care. We provide affordable room and board in a supervised and structured environment.Do SL homes assist in residents ADLs (Activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing)?
No. If an individual requires assistance with their ADLs, the tenant would have to contract directly with a service provider.Do SL homes provide medication administration?
No. Supportive Living does not administer medications nor do we have the ability to ensure that residents take their medication, as this is an individual’s personal choice. For safety purposes, medications within our homes are “checked in” with staff for safe keeping and checked out to the tenants upon request. Tenant’s medications are self-administered and they have a direct relationship with their pharmacy/pharmacist.Are there any prerequisites to placement?
Yes. A thorough risk assessment is completed for each applicant to ensure that the housing is a proper fit. If however, a tenant is incapable of evacuating the building independently in case of a fire alarm, the application will be denied placement. The assessment covers physical limitations as well as cognitive limitations. How much will residency cost?
We do quote a base monthly rate, which is affordable to most, however from time to time, certain individual circumstances may stand in the way of affordability. In these cases, we would be happy to discuss alternative financial approaches to the monthly room and board fee.Are semi-private rooms less costly than private rooms?
Our room rates are already low compared to other facilities. The same rates apply to private and semi-private rooms. We determine the occupancy on an individual basis, based on availability and sometimes necessity (i.e. for an individual who isolates themselves, a semi-private room is beneficial)Can you help me set up funding?
SupportiveLiving.ca will be happy to point a potential client in the right direction for them to get the financial assistance they need. Are there long waitlists or a waiting list for residency in Supportive Living Homes?
Not at all. We maintain a healthy inventory of available bed spaces in our buildings. We process applications within 24-48 hours and boast the shortest waitlists in the industry. How long does the application process take?
SupportiveLiving.ca tries to make the application process as simple and quick as possible. Often times, we are able to process applications the same day. Varying individual circumstances can sometimes lengthen the process.Do you accommodate short stays?
Our programs are geared towards the long-term stability and well-being of our residents and have greater success when this is kept in mind. However, we also offer a Waitlist Supports Program where we support service providers that provide long term housing and rehabilitation services. If you have waitlists, we provide transitional housing and client stabilization.
